Kentucky Bisons News Release
The Kentucky Bisons stifled the Kansas City Spartans in a home game tonight crushing them by 49 points. The victory for the Tri-States new minor league expansion team came with a 148-99 win Jan.15th at the SportsCenter in Owensboro. This caps a tough "five games in twelve days" schedule (three on the road) that started with a loss to the same Kansas City team they buried tonight. Jay Sills the team owner, said "Retribution was swift and payback was sweet for the team and for our fans, we lovingly call the "Bisonheads". Sills added, " With this team's talent and spirit anything is possible. These players are earning wins and gaining respect the "old fashioned way". "Be a team first, be the best you can be, and never give up ". Kentucky has won four out their last five and have a record of 9-2 against some of the leagues top ranked teams. This win puts the Bisons on a four game winning streak that includes a over-time victory against the Chicago Steam on the road this past weekend. This no doubt has the attention of the top teams in the league and area basketball fans. Kentucky will get a well deserved nine day rest before they take on the Cleveland Rockers at the SportsCenter in Owensboro, KY on Jan. 25th, game time is 3:00 PM.
Kentucky had eight players in double digit scoring against Kansas City. Kenny Jones led with a double-double and the team high 23 points. He shot 9/12 from the stripe with 15 rebounds. Jamie Jackson finished with 22 points, most coming from 6 shots from behind the arc. Boris Siakam also had a double-double ending with 16 pts, 12 rebounds. Mike James had 11 points, 11 assists. Lamar Owen, DJ Washington, and Aubrey White all scored 13 points, with Mike Wells adding 12 points the blow-out.
Bison's home games can be seen via tape delay by Time Warner Cable Channel 8, with Jerry Birge and John Worth as the commentators. Bisons Basketball can be heard live on the radio by tuning to WVJS 1420-AM and 100.5-FM. Rick Thompson and Bradley Payne give the "play by play" action as it happens from the SportsCenter.
