Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils continued their winning ways against Eastern Division foes Tuesday night in a 9-5 conquest of the Yakima Bears. Already owners of the division crown, the Dust Devils (44-27) maintained their nine game lead over the Spokane Indians and improved to 24-7 against division opponents on the year.
With the exception of one disastrous inning, Tuesday's game was completely dominated by the Dust Devils. After Tri-City took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Leonardo Reyes 2-run single, Yakima scored five unearned runs in the top of the second thanks to a passed ball and two errors by Tri-City defenders.
It was all Dust Devils after the second, however. Tri-City scored two in the fourth thanks to an Orlando Sandoval RBI triple and Ben Paulsen RBI double, and took the lead with two more in the fifth. The Dust Devils would add three Farmers Insurance runs in the eighth, with a Sandoval double highlighting the frame.
Tri-City reliever Aaron Weatherford (1-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings pitched, while Ariel Brea (0-2) took the loss for Yakima.
The three game series with Yakima continues on Wednesday at Gesa Stadium, with Wes Musick scheduled to make the start for the Dust Devils against Yakima's Brad Wilson.
