
Travis Kauffeldt Nets Hat Trick for NJ in Win

BROOKLYN, New York - The New Jersey Outlaws defeated the Brooklyn Aviators 7-4 on Saturday night in Federal Hockey League action.
Travis Kauffeldt recorded his first hat trick of the season, and also registered an assist to collect four points on the night.
The Outlaws erupted with four goals in the first period lead by Kauffeldt, who netted two in the opening frame. After line mate Kevin Cooper's opening tally at the 16:22 spot, Kauffeldt picked up his second marker of the season on the power play 3:53 later after he put home the loose puck in front of Brooklyn net minder, Tommy Lee. Chris Jones cut the lead in half for Brooklyn on his first goal of the year, which brought the score to 2-1 with 9:04 left to go in the first period. However, New Jersey answered with two straight with markers from Tyler Barr and Kauffeldt.
Former Aviators' forward Matt Puntureri found the score sheet against his former team, tallying two assists in the first, eventually finishing with five on the night.
The second period started in favor of the Aviators, as KC Timmons tallied his first goal of the season on the power play just :46 in, after his blast from the right point beat Outlaws' goalie Adam Dekker. New Jersey though, found the back of the on Luke Flicek's second tally of year at the 16:01 mark bringing the Outlaws' edge to 5-2.
New Jersey opened the scoring in the final frame, as Kauffeldt scored his third of the contest just :07 seconds in. With the outlaws up 7-2, Brooklyn collected two goals from Jesse Felten and Anthony Monte, both their firsts of the year, however it was too late as New Jersey held on for the win.
Lee made 19 stops in the loss, while Dekker picked up his first win after he turned away 31 shots.
