Beaulne's Hat Trick Down the Wild

Published on October 29, 2011 under Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) News Release

The crowd was buzzing at the Green Mountain Arena on Saturday as the Vermont Wild hosted the Awesasne Warriors in the second game of a home and home series. Unfortunately for the Wild the result was the same as the Warriors beat them again, 6-4.

First period goals from Jon Esposito and Darick Ste. Marie gave the Wild an early 2-0 lead midway into the period. Akwesasne then tallied 4 unanswered goals from Martin Beaulne with a pair and singletons from Nicolas Corbeil and Pierre Dagenais to take a 4-2 lead into the first intermission.

Sylvain Deschetelets' goal early in the second period increased the Warriors lead to 5-2. The Wild then started to make a comeback as Esposito and Lee McClure scored to cut the deficit to 5-4 with about 10 minutes remaining in the contest. With the game winding down the Wild pulled goaltender Anthony Luckow for the extra attacker looking to force the game into overtime. But with 14 seconds remaining Beaulne flipped the puck into the empty net giving him a hat trick and the Warriors a 6-4 victory.
