Trashers host Elmira and Rockford this weekend

DANBURY, CT-The Danbury Trashers, proud members of the United Hockey League (UHL), will host the Elmira Jackals and Rockford IceHogs on Friday and Saturday night at the Danbury Ice Arena, with both games starting at 7:30pm.

These are the first two games of a four-game home stand that concludes next weekend with a pair of contests against Roanoke Valley next Friday and Saturday night. Friday March 17th is also the St. Patrick's Day game as the Trashers will be wearing special St. Patty's themed jerseys that will be auctioned off starting this Saturday and concluding at the March 17th game. TRASHERS DROP ROAD SHOOTOUT TO QUAD CITY

MARCH 4, 2006

MOLINE, IL--Former Quad City Mallard Sergei Durdin scored the game-tying goal for Danbury at the 10:42 mark of the third period, but JJ Wrobel earned the game winner with a shootout goal in the 4th round of the extra frame as the Mallards defeated Danbury 3-2 on Saturday night at The MARK of the Quad Cities. Following a scoreless first period, the Mallards scored the opening goal at the 1:27 mark of the second as Rafal Martynowski netted his 16th of the season, followed by a Quad City power play goal from Matt Radoslovich at the 4:51 mark to give the Mallards a 2-0 lead after two periods. Danbury scored in the third as Shawn Collymore knocked in a Drew Omicioli feed past Terry Friesen at the 6:33 mark, followed by Sergei Durdin's 3rd of the season as he best Friesen for his 3rd of the season. The Trashers started off the shootout in promising fashion as Collymore scored, but the Mallards tied it up in the second round on a goal by Glenn Detulleo. Danbury failed to score in their remaining four tries while Wrobel's 4th round shot barely squirted under Sly Daigle's pad. Daigle stopped 25 of 27 in regulation while Friesen stopped 27 of 29.

TRASHERS FALL 5-2 TO KALAMAZOO

MARCH 3, 2006

KALAMAZOO, MI--Nick Bootland netted a hat trick, while Joel Martin stopped 42 of 44 Danbury shots as the Trashers failed to defeat Kalamazoo in their final meeting of the regular season as the Wings topped the Trashers 5-2 on Friday night.

The Wings capitalized with a pair of first period power play goals from Bootland at 2:00 and Jason Deitch at 10:30 before David Hymovitz scored unassisted at 11:04 to cut the Wings lead to 2-1. Bootland then scored his second of the night as he stole the puck away from Jayme Platt in the Trashers zone to extend the Wings lead to 3-1 after the opening period. Tim Turner scored his 8th of the season as he beat Platt at the 15:23 mark from Damian Surma, but J.M. Daoust responded with his 22nd of the year at the 18:06 mark as the Wings led 4-2 after the second.

Bootland's hat trick goal came at the 7:38 mark from Brad Church and Kory Karlander, just three seconds after a Ryan Barnes penalty expired. Platt saved 23 of 28 shots in the loss for Danbury.

DAIGLE SHUTOUT--DREW OMICIOLI HAT TRICK LEADS DANBURY TO 7-0 WIN OVER MUSKEGON

DANBURY, CT--Sly Daigle stopped 31 Muskegon shots while Drew Omicioli finished with six points including a hat trick as Danbury crushed Muskegon 7-0 on Wednesday night at the Danbury Ice Arena before 2,433 at the Danbury Ice Arena. Drew's first goal was the lone goal of the opening period, scored on the power play at the 12:51 mark. The Trashers then erupted for four second period goals, two from Mike Omicioli, who finished with five points, one from Shawn Collymore and the final one from Alex Goupil at the 16:54 mark. Both third period goals were scored by Drew Omicioli, the first at 2:05 as he knocked in a rebound shot by Mike Omicioli, and the other on the power play at the 13:08 mark. Kevin LaPointe saved just 27 of 34 shots in the loss for Muskegon.

DREW OMICIOLI NAMED UHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DANBURY, CT --- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced on Monday that Danbury Trashers forward Drew Omicioli has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week for a second straight week, for the period ending Sunday, March 5th, 2006. Drew completed the week with seven points on three goals and a +4 rating in three games played. He tied a franchise record with six points on three goals in Danbury's 7-0 win over Muskegon on March 1st. He later added a pair of assists in Danbury's 3-2 shootout loss to Quad City on Saturday March 4th. The 26-year-old native of West Warwick, Rhode Island leads the Trashers with 34 goals and 63 points.

DANBURY TRASHERS TO SERVE AS CELEBRITY WAITERS ON MARCH 21ST AT UNO'S CHICAGO GRILL

DANBURY, CT-The Danbury Trashers will be in attendance at "Trashers Night" being held on Tuesday, March 21st at Uno Chicago Grill in Danbury. The festivities begin at 4:00pm.

The entire Trashers roster have agreed to act as "servers" for visiting fans and patrons. Gratuities provided to the players will be donated to the Danbury Police Department "Torch Run for Special Olympics Fund". Autographs from the players will also be available. Uno Chicago Grill will also be featuring specials, and a portion of the proceeds for sales that evening will be donated to the charity.
