Trashers edge Muskegon, 2-1, to take 2-1 series lead

DANBURY, CT--David Hymovitz snapped a 1-1 tie with his 8th playoff goal, while Sly Daigle stopped 28 of 29 Fury shots as the Trashers defeated Muskegon 2-1 on Wednesday night at the Danbury Ice Arena to take a 2-1 series lead over the Muskegon Fury.

J.M. Daoust opened the scoring as he roofed in a rebound past Clayton Pool at the 3:24 mark of the first period on assists from Shawn Collymore and Frederic Belanger. Muskegon then tied the score at the 13:41 mark as David Wrigley flipped a rebound past a sprawled out Daigle after an initial shot by Tom Galvin as the score was deadlocked at 1-1 after the first period.

A tightly contested second period finally opened up for David Hymovitz as his slot drive went past Pool at the 11:54 mark after taking a drop pass from Ryan Barnes. Jeff Daw added the other assist.

Sly Daigle was the star of a scoreless third period as he stopped 14 of Muskegon's 29 shots, while the Trashers had to kill off the final 1:41 of the game with the Fury on a power play. Muskegon emptied the net for an extra attacker, but Hymovitz's clear out in the final momennts ended the game. Daigle stopped 28 of 29 shots, while Pool saved 35 of 37.

Game four will take place on Friday May 12th and Saturday May 13th at 7:30pm. Games six and seven are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday 15th and 16th in Muskegon if necessary.
