Kansas City Outlaws News Release

Kansas City Outlaws General Manager Joe Bucchino announced today that right wing Jay Murphy has been traded to the Danbury Trashers for forward Gerry Hickey, the rights to goaltender Guillaume Lavallee, and future considerations. Murphy was acquired from Richmond in December 2004 in an eight-player trade with the RiverDogs. In 29 games with Kansas City, the 33-year-old Murphy scored 13 goals and dished out 20 assists for 33 points. Murphy was tied with Outlaws captain Jason Ruff for the team lead in game winning goals (3).

Hickey is in his third professional season and has 99 games of UHL experience. The 25-year-old native of Hanover, MA has three goals and seven assists along with 499 career penalty minutes in games with the Elmira Jackals, Richmond RiverDogs, and Danbury Trashers. Hickey also spent time with the Lubbock Cotton Kings of the CHL during the 2003-04 season.

The 2004-05 season marked the first professional season for Lavallee. In 11 games with Danbury, Lavallee posted a 5-6-0 record with a 3.65 goals against average. Prior to arriving in Danbury, the 21-year-old net minder spent three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) where he posted a career record of 59-38-10 with Shawinigan, Halifax, and Rimouski.
