Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that the team has acquired left winger Jared Dumba (dumb-buh) from the Oklahoma City Blazers for future considerations. Dumba, who will wear #22, is expected to be in the line-up on Thanksgiving night when the team hosts the Memphis RiverKings at 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum.

Dumba, who has spent his entire pro career with Oklahoma City, provides instant offense to the Ice attack as he has averaged just under a point a game for his two-plus years with the Blazers with 122 points (64G, 58A) in just 133 games. In 15 games with the Blazers this year, the left winger has compiled seven points (5G, 2A) and 18 penalty minutes.

“We have struggled to score goals in the early stages of this season and Jared gives us some offensive punch,” said Ice Head Coach Ken McRae. “He is a proven goal scorer in this league who shoots the puck hard and has a knack for scoring goals of all sorts.

The 23-year old Dumba was a member of Oklahoma City's 2001 CHL Championship Team and finished second in the CHL Rookie of the Year voting that season after amassing 75 points (36G, 39A) in 70 games of work. He finished the 2001-02 season with 34 points (20G, 14A), despite spending two months on the injured reserve list.

Before turning pro in the “Sooner State,” Dumba played juniors in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League. His final season in the BCJHL was a high-scoring affair as he put up two points a game with 120 points (44G, 76A) in 60 games while a member of the South Surrey Eagles.
