TIME TO SAY THANKS?
As the Cotton Kings and their fans sit around the Thanksgiving dinner table tomorrow, they will give "Thanks" for what they have, and they also are hoping that one of the praises of thanks is a victory over the Odessa Jackalopes today, which would end a streak of 13 consecutive regular season losses to the Odessa Jackalopes. The Cotton Kings look to end a two game winless streak, while the Jackalopes are seeking to extend a three-game winning streak. The Jacks' currently lead the CHL's Southwest Division and they have out-scored their opponents 9-2 over their last three games.
THE SERIES
The Odessa Jackalopes lead the all-time series 21-9-1, winning the previous 13 regular season meetings. This season, the Jacks' have an early 2-0-0 series lead, with several players leading the series scoring with three points. Jack's forward John Bossio is the all-time leader in opponent scoring against the âKings with 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points in 30 games played. Lubbock is 10-16-5 all-time against Odessa, with former âKings forward Kyle Reeves as the all-time scoring leader for the âKings against Odessa with 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points. The âKings active leader against Odessa is Jan Melichercik with 6 goals and 7 assists for 13 points in 21 games. THE LAST MEETING
On November 15th, the Odessa Jackalopes defeated the Lubbock Cotton Kings, 6-1 at the Ector County Coliseum. The Jackalopes scored a pair of goals within 46 seconds of each other in the first period to take a 2-0 lead, and then scored a pair of goals 52 seconds apart in the third period to take a 5-0 lead. Travis Kennedy had two goals and an assist to lead Odessa, while John Bossio contributed two assists. Mike Gorman stopped 25 of 26 shots for the Jackalopes, and had his shutout attempt ended by Blaz Emersic at the 8:29 mark of the third period.
ROSTER CHANGES Lubbock is without goaltender Neil Savary (knee), who remains on the injured reserve list. The Jackalopes are lacking defenseman Ryan Edwards (femur), who is on the injured reserve list.
