San Antonio FC News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Toyota Field will host an international friendly between the Mexican and Australian Women's National Teams on Tuesday, April 9, as part of the 2024 MexTour W, the federations announced today. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. CT and available to watch on ViX's Zona TUDN.

"We're proud to bring yet another high-caliber match to San Antonio," said Director of Toyota Field and Star Soccer Complex Jose Lizardo. "This is a huge testament to our facilities, fans and amazing city. This is an incredible time for the growth of the women's game, and we're thrilled to host such an exciting match."

This marks the first-ever women's international match to be featured at Toyota Field. The MexTour W, now in its second year, continues to serve as a platform for talented athletes to inspire and pave the way for future generations of women in the sport. The tour games will showcase the Mexican Women's National Team while creating a movement for youth to play, be inspired and be empowered by the sport.

The match puts Toyota Field on the international stage for the second time this year after hosting a friendly between the United States Men's National Team and Slovenia in January.

Tickets for the match will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, February 13 at 10 a.m. CT via SAFC season ticket members will have first access to an exclusive presale to purchase tickets, followed by a presale window for SAFC Fan Club members beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 12.

The Mexican Women's National Team is ranked 35th in the FIFA World Rankings following its undefeated year in 2023. Head Coach Pedro Lopez took the reins in the Fall of 2022, focusing on reaching the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup. El Tri Femenil is coming off its first gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games and will be gearing up for the inaugural Concacaf W Gold Cup later this month after defeating Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago in its qualifiers.

Australia comes into the contest ranked 12th in the current FIFA World Rankings, fresh off its best finish in FIFA Women's World Cup play. The Matildas obtained fourth place as they co-hosted the 2023 tournament, the highest-ever finish for an Australian team at the senior level. The squad will participate in the third round of AFC 2024 Olympic qualifiers in late February, looking to build upon its semifinal finish at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

The two teams last met in 2011, with Australia defeating Mexico 3-2.

The 2024 MexTour W is sponsored by AT&T, Michelob ULTRA and Wells Fargo.
