Tovar named Offensive Player of the Week for second time this season
November 27, 2007 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
California Cougars News Release
Stockton, CA - Nov. 27, 2007 - The California Cougars of the Major Indoor Soccer League, (MISL), announce today that forward Enrique Tovar has been named the MISL offensive player of the week for week six. It is the second time Tovar has earned the award this season.
Not only has Tovar been named MISL offensive player of the week twice in the first six weeks of the season, but he also has two hat tricks this year. Tovar most recently accomplished the feat during the Cougars 20-11 road win against the Orlando Sharks on November 21. The first occasion came on October 27 at Chicago in an 11-10 Cougars' loss. Tovar, also known as Qeeks, followed the three goal performance in Orlando with one more goal against the Philadelphia KiXX on November 25 in Stockton. Tovar launched a short goal just under the crossbar and just above the reach of KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas. Tovar dominated MISL week six with eight points, including four goals on five shots in two games played. He is now tied atop the league with 19 points scored for the season.
Tovar and the Cougars travel to Philadelphia this Friday (November 30) to play the KiXX for the second time this year at 4:05 (PST). California stays on the road to play the Baltimore Blast December 1 at 4:35 (PST). Both games can be heard on 1420-KSTN in Stockton and online at www.californiacougars.net.
