
Ed Kalegi To Serve As In-house Voice Of The Ironmen

NEWARK, NJ- The New Jersey Ironmen (3-1) formally announced today that Ed Kalegi will serve as the inaugural public address announcer for the club at Prudential Center. The Ironmen will kick off their historical home debut this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with soccer legend Pelé serving as an honorary captain.
"I am very excited to be part of something brand new to the region," Kalegi stated. "The Ironmen are something that I feel will go over very well in this city."
Kalegi has been heavily involved with sports in the major metropolitan area over the years. He is the current public address announcer for the Staten Island Yankees (Class A Short-Season) in addition to being the public address announcer and on-field entertainment host for the 2007 Atlantic League champion Newark Bears. He also serves as a race announcer for New York Road Runners, and he has worked as the pre-race festival emcee at the start of the New York City Marathon.
Kalegi commented on the level of entertainment that corresponds with the game of indoor soccer.
"Indoor soccer is an extremely exciting and truly unique sport," he said. "Not only is Ironmen soccer affordable family fun, but it will undoubtedly be an exciting fan experience for all of those in attendance."
Outside of the sports world, Kalegi serves as the voice of Weather Phone in New York City, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine. The Metuchen native has also worked as a voice actor, appearing in commercials, narrations and audio books.
After playing four games on the road to open their inaugural season, the Ironmen are finally set to make their historical home debut at Prudential Center this Saturday, December 1st. The club will play host to the Detroit Ignition with a scheduled kickoff of 7:30 p.m. The team traveled to Detroit earlier this season and exploded for 21 points in a seven-point win. Joining the Ironmen as an honorary captain for the historical outing will be soccer legend Pelé.
