
Toros Return Home to Face Division Rival

AUSTIN, TX (February 18, 2009) - The Austin Toros return to the Austin Convention Center for the first of three games next week starting Sunday, February 22nd against the Colorado 14ers at 3:00 p.m.
The Toros play at home after eight games on the road, and currently hold the NBA D-League best overall road record of 11-2. The Toros travel to Bakersfield for game eight on Thursday.
Both the Toros (21-8) and the 14ers (20-8) are battling for the top spot in the Southwest Division for positioning in the 2009 NBA D-League Playoffs. Austin and Colorado also hold the first and second best records in the D-League.
Sunday afternoon, the Toros will honor Player Development Mentor Celester Collier, who is in his second season in the position. The NBA D-League designates a player mentor for every D-League team who is charged with providing support and guidance to selected players during the season.
The first 500 fans to enter the arena on Sunday will receive a Capital City Dancers team poster courtesy of Academy Sports and Outdoors.
Tuesday night's game against Albuquerque at 7:30 p.m. will feature the inaugural House vs. Senate Basketball Challenge presented by GreenbergTraurig. Members of the Texas Legislature will compete against each other to raise money for the Dell Children's Medical Center Foundation of Central Texas.
The Austin River City Rec'ers, a nonprofit community based wheelchair basketball team, will showcase their talents in a pre-game exhibition before the Toros game on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against the Albuquerque Thunderbirds.
Additionally, the Toros will host Sports Career Night featuring a vendor fair of colleges with sports management programs and local sports teams, a tour of the arena, and a panel discussion from sports professionals. Registration begins at 4:30p.m. and is $15 for high school juniors and seniors and college students. A ticket to the Toros game is included in the registration fee.
