Edinburg, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (12,6,9) had their 10-game unbeaten streak snapped by the Portland Timbers 2 (9,14,4) with a score of 1-0 at the Practice Fields at H-E-B Park. Brent Richards scored the lone goal.

The first went scoreless between both the both teams. Rio Grande Valley and Portland had their opportunities. Charlie Ward had a great chance to put the Toros ahead in the 16th minute but his shot went wide. Callum Irving, goalkeeper for the Toros, kept both teams even in the 33rd minute. Neco Brett shot for the Timbers 2, but Callum Irving tipped it over for a corner kick.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Portland got on the score sheet. Timbers 2's Brent Richards' long-distance shot found its way into the back of the net. The Toros kept continuing to apply pressure and trying to find their goal. Kai Greene and Jose "Memo" Rodriguez kept finding spaces for the Toros on the right side of the field. Rio Grande Valley's Eric Bird connected with a cross in the 88th minute but his shot impacted a Timbers 2 player.

The Toros travel for a two-game trip in the state of California. The first game will be against the LA Galaxy II on Wednesday, September 14 before facing OC Blues FC on Saturday, September 17. Portland Timbers 2 stays on the road and will face Arizona United SC on Tuesday, September 13.
