
Toros Earn Big Road Win over Orange County

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (7-3-3) earns 2-0 win over Orange County SC (6-4-3) on the road on Saturday night.
Juan Carlos Azocar snagged the lead in the 2nd minute, marking the fastest goal this season. The goal came after Wan Kuzain sent a cross to the center of the box, connecting with Azocar and finishing off to the center of the goal, 1-0.
The second goal was scored by Rodrigo Lopez in the 80th minute after he converted a penalty kick to the right-back of the net, 2-0.
In the 9th minute Robert Kierman tested the Toros goal after sending a headed shot to top center of the goal but was saved. Azocar threatened Orange County once again with a 35-yard shot but was sent high out wide.
Vicente Sanchez managed to send a left footed shot from outside the box going out high and wide to the left in the 23rd minute. Eric Calvillo snapped back six minutes later with an outside shot but was denied.
Before heading to the halftime break, Sanchez had two more opportunities but wasn't able to capitalize. Eero Markkanen also tested Tyler Deric before the break but was not able to equalize.
In the second half, Kuzain sent a left footed shot from the center of the box but missed to the left in the 52nd minute. Orange County's Christopher Wehan had two back-to-back opportunities but wasn't able to put one away.
The Toros totaled 11 shots, four on target while being able to win 50.6% of duels faced. Orange County totaled seven shots, three on target while winning 48.3% of duels. Though RGV FC was able to come out with the win, OC held the majority of ball possession throughout the game (53.4%).
Eduin Quero and Kyle Edwards made their debut tonight with the Toros. Deric kept the fourth clean sheet of the season with three total saves.
Juan David Cabezas led defensively with seven tackles and two interceptions while also being able to total one shot, one on target and one created chance. Azocar created five opportunities which one led to a goal, and totaled two shots, one on target.
