Toros Down 0-2 In Championship

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Toros were downed 11-4, by the Calgary Vipers, in game two of the 2009 GBL Championship. With the win Calgary takes a 2-0 lead in the best of five series.

For the second night in a row, the two teams put on an offensive display. Calgary scored their 11 runs on 16 total hits while the Toros managed to register 12 total hits.

Junior Spivey led the way for the homeside as he went 2-4, scored one run, and drove in a pair of RBI.

Skip Adams also had a 2-4 night, where he scored a pair of runs.

Vince Davis got the start for Tucson, where he pitched four innings, in his second start of the 2009 playoffs. In the outing, the lefty gave up eight runs, on nine hits.

Pete Hartmann relieved Davis and he gave the Toros three solid innings of relief. Hartmann only surrendered one hit, out of the pen, and he fanned four Vipers.

Brian Daly and Toby Nordmann also appeared out of the Toros bullpen.

Game three, of the best of five series, will take place tomorrow in Calgary. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05, Tucson time.
