Toros And Celebs Deliver Win For Charity

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Toros and host of celebrities played a benefit softball game for local charity Tu Nidito. In the game the Toros won in walkoff fashion when Pitching Coach Ed Vosberg crushed a bases loaded popup single to the pitcher solidifying a dramatic 19-18 walkoff victory over the celebrity squad in front of 1,763 fans.

In their own right the celebrities definitely played the role of a softball team well, giving the Toros a run for the their money behind their skipper Peter Marshall, the former host of Hollywood Squares. Other celebrities starring in the game include Phil Donlon, Patrick Kilpatrick, Geoffrey Lewis, David Proval, Sandra Robinson, Jamison Jones, and Alicia Arden.

Local personalities on the team included John Humenik of the Arizona Daily Star, Scott Kilbury and Eric Villalobos of KOLD, Linda Garrett and Jake Knapp of KGUN, Ryan Recker of KVOA, Jennie and Blake of 92.9 The Mountain and Chita and Adrienne of 96.1 KLPX among others.

Tu Nidito is a local non-profit organization that provides individual, family and group support through emotional, educational, social and spiritual services to children and their families as they deal with serious illness and death.

The Toros and Tu Nidito would like to thank all of the celebrities, players and most important all the fans who helped make game a fantastic event.
