Toronto Rock News Release
The Toronto Rock announced today that they have acquired defenseman Brian Beisel from the Philadelphia Wings. Beisel was traded to Philadelphia earlier today from the San Jose Stealth. The Rock will give up Andrew Burkholder, who was acquired in the 2004 Entry draft (3rd round, 22nd overall) and their 2nd round draft pick in the 2005 Entry Draft.
"We're extremely pleased that we were able to acquire Brain. He is a proven veteran who will help solidify the right hand side of what is already a strong defensive team." Terry Sanderson, Toronto Rock Head Coach and GM.
Beisel spent last season with the San Jose Stealth. He played in 14 regular season games, finishing the season with 16 points on 5 goals and 11 assists. He took 20 shots on goal, collected 36 looseballs and served 6 minutes in penalties.
The Rock also signed goaltender John Preece to a one year contract this week. Preece was a part of the Rock's practice roster in 2003. Recently he has put in time between the pipes for the WLA Jr. A Victoria Shamrocks and the OLA Sr. B Ajax-Pickering Rock.
