April 29, 2015 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Toronto FC News Release
Toronto FC II announced Wednesday that the club has signed defender Emeka Ononye to a USL contract. As per club and league policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
"Emeka is a player that we have scouted for some time now and has also been on a short trial with us during March of this year," said Toronto FC II Head Coach Jason Bent. "He is an athletic center back that really enjoys defending. The addition of Emeka will add greater competition for places in our backline."
Ononye, 22, spent the last four seasons at Wright State University. He appeared in 76 matches, scoring seven goals and adding one assist. In 2014, he earned First Team All-Horizon League and was selected to NSCAA Third Team All-Great Lakes Region. He also received Second Team All-Horizon League honors in 2013. During the 2014 PDL (Premier Development League) season, he appeared in 14 matches while logging 1260 minutes for K-W United FC.
