Toronto Arrows News Release
TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Arrows are pleased to announce the signing of Pacific Pride hooker Tyler Wong for the remainder of the 2023 Major League Rugby season.
Wong, 23, arrives at the club from Rugby Canada's national development academy side in British Columbia's Premier Division, where he has been honing his skills since 2020.
"We're excited to welcome Tyler into our squad from the Pride," said Tim Matthews, Toronto Arrows Vice President and General Manager. "He has been training with us for the past two weeks and has ramped up nicely as we prepare for the second half of our season."
"We know Tyler's eager to make his MLR debut, and that he's put in the work to hit the ground running."
The six-foot-two, 230-pound forward represented Canada at the under-20 level as an under-ager in 2018, donning the red and white alongside several of his new Arrows teammates, including Jack McRogers, James O'Neill, Tyler Rowland, and Owain Ruttan.
Wong is a product of the University of Victoria rugby program, where he notably was a member of the Vikes side that earned the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championship title in 2019.
Born in Costa Rica and raised in North Vancouver, B.C., Wong got his start in rugby at his hometown Carson Graham Secondary School.
