Toronto Arrows News Release
TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Arrows are pleased to announce that lock Shay Kerry has re-signed with the club for the 2024 Major League Rugby season.
Kerry, 28, is returning to the Arrows for his sophomore campaign after featuring in six matches (five starts) across his first MLR season.
The six-foot-six, 270-pound forward accumulated 203 carry metres on 43 carries, 101 ruck arrivals and 51 tackles (87.9% completion) in his debut season in North America.
Kerry arrived at the club midway through the 2023 season following a two-year spell with French side Rouen Normandie, where the 10-year professional plied his trade for parts of three Pro D2 campaigns.
The forward started his professional career in Worcester Warriors' academy program in 2013 and would go on to make five first-team appearances for the team in the British and Irish Cup before departing England for French side Oyonnax two years later.
Following three years in eastern France that were highlighted by winning the 2016-2017 Pro D2 title and earning promotion to the Top 14, Kerry ventured south for a season with Federale 1 side Narbonne.
After a season apiece with RFU Championship clubs Ampthill and Jersey Reds, Kerry returned to France for a stint with Rouen.
Born in Canterbury, England, Kerry moved with his family to New Zealand as an elementary schooler. He earned national selection at the under-17 level and featured for National Provincial Championship side Bay of Plenty before returning to his native England.
The club will be making additional signing announcements in the coming weeks as 2024 season preparations continue to build.
