Toronto Arrows Announce Return of Canadian International Hooker McRogers
December 1, 2022 - Major League Rugby (MLR) - Toronto Arrows News Release
TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Arrows are pleased to announce that hooker Jack McRogers has re-signed with the club for the 2023 Major League Rugby season.
McRogers, 24, is returning to the Arrows for a fifth campaign after featuring in 32 matches (10 starts) for the club since its inaugural season in 2019.
"It has always been a dream of mine to play professional rugby in Toronto, and the Arrows have made that a reality," said McRogers. "I am very proud to have been part of this organization since day one."
"I can't wait to come together as a team at training camp next month. I love this organization and I look forward to giving everything I have towards a successful 2023 campaign."
The five-foot-eleven, 230-pound forward enjoyed his most productive offensive season to date in 2022, leading the team in tries scored (six) while also setting career highs in carries (53) and carry metres (332). Following his two-try performance in Week 15's record-breaking shutout victory over Dallas, McRogers earned MLR Player of the Week honours.
The Newmarket, Ont. native has accumulated 560 carry metres on 105 carries, 284 ruck arrivals, 184 tackles (93.4% completion), nine tackle breaks, eight tries and two linebreaks over his four years with the team.
McRogers earned his first cap for Canada this past summer, coming off the bench against Spain to score a memorable debut try in Ottawa. The hooker also represented Canada at two World Rugby Under-20 Trophy tournaments, first as an under-ager in 2017, and again in 2018.
Arrow #38 is a graduate of the Ontario Blues junior men's provincial program and the McMaster Marauders post-secondary program, and played his grassroots rugby with the Aurora Barbarians.
"Jack had a breakout year in 2022 with six MLR tries, a Player of the Week award and his first international cap," said Mark Winokur, Toronto Arrows Chief Operating Officer and General Manager. "We're really looking forward to seeing him build on his recent achievements and continue his strong development this upcoming year."
The club will be making additional signing announcements in the coming weeks as 2023 season preparations continue to build.
