Toronto Arrows News Release
TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Arrows are pleased to announce that centre/wing Mitch Richardson has re-signed with the club for the 2023 Major League Rugby season.
Richardson, 26, is returning to the Arrows for a fifth campaign after featuring in 26 matches (16 starts) for the club since its inaugural season in 2019.
"I am super excited to sign back for the 2023 season," said Richardson. "I love being able represent this organization and to play in my home province not far from where I grew up."
"I can't wait to get back with the team to continue building on the goals we set in previous years and aim even higher. We want to achieve those results not only for the organization, ourselves, and each other, but also for our amazing fanbase who supports us day in and day out. We are going to give our all."
The six-foot-two, 215-pound back enjoyed a breakout season in 2022, setting career highs in several statistical categories, including matches played (12), matches started (10), carry metres (563), completed tackles (54), tackle breaks (10), offloads (eight), and linebreaks (four).
The Stoney Creek, Ont. product has accrued 795 carry metres on 95 carries, 96 tackles, 13 tackle breaks, nine offloads, six linebreaks, and four tries over his four years with the club.
Richardson has represented Canada at the 2016 World Rugby Under-20 Trophy and Canada 'A' at the 2017 World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge, and came through Rugby Canada's Pacific Pride national development academy program.
Arrow #27 is also a graduate of the Ontario Blues senior men's provincial program and the McMaster Marauders post-secondary program, and played his grassroots rugby with the Stoney Creek Camels and Burlington Centaurs.
"Mitch has really brought his game along the last few years and had some breakout moments last season," said Mark Winokur, Toronto Arrows Chief Operating Officer and General Manager. "We look forward to continue working with him to get him all the way on his pathway to success."
The club will be making additional signing announcements in the coming weeks as 2023 season preparations continue to build.
