
Tornadoes topple Skyhawks

AUGUSTA, N.J. - Chris Colabello's RBI-double in the top of the seventh snapped a tie game and helped send the Worcester Tornadoes to a 6-4 win over the Sussex Skyhawks on Saturday evening at Skylands Park.
With two outs and Vinny Pennell on third in a 4-4 game, Colabello stroked a double to right center to bring in the eventual game-winning run. Carlos Sosa's RBI-double in the top of the ninth added an insurance run for Worcester. Sosa finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run, and Alex Trezza had a solo shot for the Tornadoes. Jeff La Hair finished with three hits and an RBI.
Starting pitcher Ryan Lobban earned the win for the Tornadoes after giving up four runs (three earned) over six innings. Lobban allowed nine hits, while walking three and striking out four. Santiago Ramirez earned his sixth save of the season after pitching a perfect ninth. Sussex reliever Stephen Fox took the loss after giving up two runs in 2 2/3 innings.
Jeremy Hunt and John Urick had two hits each for Sussex. Second baseman Chris Brown drove in two runs in the losing effort.
The Skyhawks and Tornadoes return to action at Skylands Park on Sunday for the final game of the four game series. Game time is set for 2:05 p.m.
