No. 9: Club sets attendance record in Scottsdale debut
After playing four consecutive matches on the road to begin the season, players, coaches, and fans were champing at the bit for the year's first home match of the season. And Arizona United SC finally made its debut in its brand-new home: Scottsdale Stadium.
Supporters came in droves to celebrate the newest home of United soccer and broke the club's attendance record in the process. The previous record (4,018 on June 18, 2014, during a US Open Cup fourth-round match against Major League Soccer club LA Galaxy) was shattered when 6,108 fans showed up for the home opener.
Arizona United fell in a tough 2-0 loss to Portland Timbers FC 2. But the record-breaking home opener was just the beginning of what became a record-breaking year in attendance for United.
