No. 2: Woszczynski sets USL record for most saves/shuts down Sacramento

The saying goes: "When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade."

In 2015, Carl Woszczynski made the entire stand.

In facing the most shots in the league, Woszczynski broke the USL record for most saves in a season (130). That was 41 more saves than the next goalkeeper on the list.

In many instances, a Woszczynski save (or two or three) were the stand out moments of a match regardless of the final result. While his 13-save clean sheet against Orange County was his best statistical performance, his final start of the season was his most impressive.

Squaring off against the defending USL champion Sacramento Republic FC on the road (and with Sacramento still in the hunt for home field advantage and a first-round bye in the playoffs) Woszczynski made big save after big save. The lethal Sacramento attack was rendered harmless as Woszczynski stood taller and taller as the match wore on.

When the whistle blew, Woszczynski not only had a clean sheet (in a scoreless draw) but also the respect of Republic FC fans.
