Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

JOHNSTOWN- The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that the team has tendered defenseman Chris Trouba for the 2016-17 season.

Chris Trouba, a native of Auburn Hills, Mich., has been a mainstay on defense for the Detroit Compuware program for the past four seasons. In 2015-16, he earned two goals and four assists in 23 games with the U18 program.

Trouba is the younger brother of Winnipeg Jets defenseman, Jacob Trouba.

"Chris is a very talented defenseman who has great size, shooting capabilities and defends very well," Tomahawks assistant coach, Nick Shackford, said. "His sense for the game is elite and he can read and anticipate the play at a high pace."

Additionally, Chris Trouba was drafted by the Youngstown Phantoms in the fifth round of the 2015 USHL draft. Prior to that, he attended the U.S. National Team Development Program development camp, which helps develop the best American hockey players.

"His skills will translate into the Junior A level very well," Shackford said. "Moreover, he is a big-time prospect with plenty of upside."

The latest signing brings the total number of tenders to seven for 2016-17. Caleb Ernst, Riley Doyon, Jake Garman, Mitchell Hale, Andy Iehle and Andrew Quetell all signed tenders with the Tomahawks earlier this year.

Season ticket packages are now available for the 2016-17 season. For more information about full season or flex season plans, visit the team website at JohnstownTomahawks.com, stop by the Tomahawks office, or call the team at 814-536-GOAL.
