North Shore Navigators News Release
LYNN, Mass. - The North Shore Navigators are excited to announce that the Boston Bruins' own Todd Angilly will be performing "The Star Spangled Banner" prior to the team's home opener on Tuesday, July 7 at Lynn's Fraser Field.
Angilly was named the Bruins' official anthem singer in October of 2019, becoming the first person to hold that title following the retirement of TD Garden legend Rene Rancourt.
In addition to Tuesday's game against the Worcester Bravehearts, Angilly will sing the anthem at several other Navs games throughout the summer.
A probation officer by day, Angilly is a bartender at the SportsDeck inside TD Garden during the Bruins and Celtics seasons. The Warwick, R.I., native and current Lynnfield resident is trained as an opera singer from his time at the New England Conservatory and has performed for all of Boston's professional sports teams.
Angilly got his first chance to perform the anthem at TD Garden on Nov. 2, 2017. While working as a bartender at the SportsDeck, Angilly was asked to fill in for the previously scheduled anthem singer who was unable to make it into TD Garden.
After Rancourt retired, the Bruins held live auditions on Aug. 8, 2018 to find a rotating group of singers who would perform the anthem during the 2018-19 season. Out of more than 600 applications, Angilly was the first of 52 finalists to be selected to perform.
Angilly sang the anthem at 16 Bruins home games during the 2018-19 season and was the primary choice for games where both the American and Canadian anthems were required. He also performed at each home game throughout the team's run to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Navs have begun the 13th season of collegiate ball at Fraser Field and their ninth in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Stay up to date on the latest Navs news by visiting nsnavs.com and following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
