Orlando Titans News Release
New York, NY - After wrapping up a thrilling sudden death overtime victory against the Buffalo Bandits on Sunday at the Garden, the New York Titans begin a four game road stint on Saturday when they head to Chicago to take on the Shamrox at the Sears Center on Saturday, February 16 at 8pm (ET).
Heading into the game on Saturday, the Titans are 2-4, 7th in the Eastern Conference. The Shamrox are 1-3, 6th in the East.
The Titans and the Shamrox - both expansion teams last season - each won their home opener in 2007; the Shamrox defeated the Titans 12-15 on January 6th at the Sears Center and the Titans beat Chicago 11-9 at their home opener on January 20th in front of a raucous crowd of 13,127 fans at the Garden. On Saturday, the Titans will be looking to avenge their loss to Chicago on the road on March 24, 2007.
"We had three good battles last season against Chicago," said Titans head coach Adam Mueller. "They have a talented, unselfish offense and a great transition attack that we will need to focus on. On defense they are solid and have a very good goaltender. Coming off an upset win versus Buffalo, we need to get a good start and put together a complete 60 minutes on both sides of the floor."
The National Lacrosse League announced their All-Star nominations last week and six Titans players were included on the ballot. Titans captain Casey Powell, Ryan Boyle, Mike McLellan, Jordan Hall, Jarett Park and Titans starting goalie Matt Vinc were nominated to the East's 2008 NLL All-Star team. Powell along with Boyle represented the East in the All-Star Game last season in which the East defeated the West 20-16. Powell scored two goals and dished two assists in the East's win over the West. Boyle dished four assists. Powell also was the East Division winner of the All-Star Skills Competition for Best Trick. The All-Star game is set to take place on Sunday, March 16th at Rexall Place in Edmonton.
The Titans will play their next home game on Saturday, March 22nd at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ against the Philadelphia Wings at 7:30pm.
