Rush Announce 2008 All Star Game Weekend Festivities and Events

Edmonton, AB- After many months of planning, the Edmonton Rush are pleased to announce the details about the festivities and events that will lead up to the 2008 All Star Game in exactly a months time.

"We were very excited to have the opportunity to host the All Star Game when it was announced by the NLL back in March of 2007," said Bruce Urban, Owner and Governor. "All along our goal has been to put on the best All Star Game weekend that the league has seen ensuring that we continued with Rush tradition of providing fans with value for their entertainment dollars. We are excited about the events that we have put together and are sure that fans, players, and coaches alike will be thrilled with the weekend."

The City of Edmonton will come alive with the best lacrosse players from around the league and fan-tastic events during the weekend of March 14 - 16, 2008. The All Star Game weekend's event line-up includes:

"Dine with the Stars" with Special Guest Speaker NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings

- Friday, March 14, 2008 at 6 p.m.

A gala dinner evening and silent auction with the 2008 NLL ALL Star players and Special Guest Speaker -Commissioner Jim Jennings to be held at the Westin Hotel - Edmonton. Tickets are $600 for a table of 10 and $70 for an individual ticket. All proceeds from the silent auction will go to Kidsport Alberta. "Rogers - Play with the Stars" Mini Skills Competition

- Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 12 p.m.

Kids ages 6 - 17 are able to compete for a chance to "Play with the Stars". Kids will compete in a mini skills competition where the winner in each of five skills categories will win the opportunity to "Play with the Stars" and participate in the "2008 NLL Skills Competition presented by Rogers Wireless". "Edmonton Rush vs. Rochester Knighthawks presented by Rogers Wireless"

- Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 4 p.m.

Come join the action as the Rush take on the defending Champions the Rochester Knighthawks in their first ever meeting. Tickets are available by calling 732-RUSH or by visiting www.ticketmaster.ca.

"2008 All Star Skills Competition presented by Rogers Wireless"

- Saturday, March 15, 2008 immediately following the Rush vs. Knighthawks game.

The 2008 All Stars will take to the field to compete in 5 skills categories including agility, accuracy, fastest shot, trick shot, and goalie long shot along with a special traditional Brave Heart - 2 on 2 battle. Tickets are available by calling 732-RUSH or by visiting www.ticketmaster.ca.

"All Star Cabaret" featuring Tupelo Honey

- Saturday, March 15, 2008 doors open at 8:30 p.m.

Celebrate at the party of the weekend featuring Edmonton's own Tupelo Honey at the Northlands Park Sportexe. No minors allowed. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 451-8000 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.ca.

"2008 All Star Game"

- Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 2 p.m.

Come see the best of what lacrosse has to offer - all star players from around the league will play in the West vs. East division game. Half-time will include special guests Paul Brown, of 100.3 The Bear, and Rob Hislop, of CityTV's Breakfast Television, as they defend the crease against the West and East All Star players in a five minute full out - nothing held back game.

The 2008 All Star Game will be televised on Sportsnet as well as on the radio on the Team 1260 - Just A Game with Jason Gregor.

- Sunday, March 16, 2008 immediately following the 2008 All Star Game.

It is your chance to meet and mingle with the lacrosse stars and enjoy a special tribute to Johnny Cash as hosted by George Canyon on the field immediately following the All Star Game.

"The All Star Game Weekend event line up is a great event for the City of Edmonton, the entire weekend offers something for everyone to enjoy and a great opportunity for the City of Edmonton to take part in the excitement and as well as learn more about the sport of lacrosse." said Duane Vienneau, President.

Rush fans are encourage to vote for their favourite all stars by taking part in the 2008 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game Fan Balloting which is now underway. All ballots will be cast through the league's official online community, at www.NLL.com/community . Fan balloting will remain open until February 24th.
