Orlando Titans News Release
The New York Titans of the National Lacrosse League take on the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, March 17 at 12:30PM. The Titans' St. Patrick's Day game marks the team's final game at the Garden for the 2007 season.
The Titans are looking to avenge their 16-14 loss to Buffalo on January 12 at the Bandits' season home opener in HSBC Arena. Since that game, Titans forward Casey Powell, Bandits forward John Tavares, as well as Rochester forward John Grant, have been wrestling for the top spot in the NLL in points. Grant is the league's current leader in points with 70, Tavares is second with 69 and Powell is not far behind with 66.
The team is beginning to click on all cylinders after the Titans' 13-10 upset win over the five-time NLL Champion Toronto Rock on Saturday, March 3rd, the Titans' last game before the All-Star break. Titans forward Brendan Mundorf earned NLL Rookie of the Week honors for Week Ten for his five point (3 goals, 2 assists) performance in that win at the Garden.
The Titans return from the NLL All-Star break after sending two players to Saturday's All-Star Game at the Rose Garden in Portland. Titans Captain Casey Powell and Assistant Captain Ryan Boyle were critical players in the East's 20-16 victory over the West. Powell scored two goals and dished two assists and Boyle dished four assists in the win. Powell also was the Eastern Division winner of the All-Star Skills Competition for Best Trick.
The Titans (2-8) take on the Bandits (6-4) on Saturday, March 17th at 12:30PM. At the Titans' St. Patty's Day game at the Garden, the team will feature for their half-time entertainment Irish rock band Black 47. Renown locally and internationally, Black 47's NYC shows have been described as "a rite of passage for all New Yorkers." Led by Larry Kirwan, Black 47 is recognized as the premier Irish-American rock group who paved the way for the current Irish punk/roots explosion led by such bands as Flogging Molly and The Dropkick Murphys. Kirwan helps program Celtic Music for SIRIUS Satellite Radio and hosts his own show, Celtic Crush, twice weekly. Tickets are now on sale via Ticketmaster charge-by-phone, Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, the Madison Square Garden box office or by logging onto www.nytitans.com.
On Saturday, March 24th the Titans play the Rochester Knighthawks at Nassau Coliseum at 7:30PM and on Saturday, March 31st the Titans play their last home game for the season against the Edmonton Rush at 12:30PM at Nassau Coliseum.
