
Titans Ink Deal With ESPN 1080

ORLANDO, Fla. 22) -- The Orlando Titans and Genesis Communications have reached an agreement that will make ESPN 1080 The Team the official radio home of the National Lacrosse League team.
As part of the agreement, ESPN 1080 The Team and will broadcast all Orlando Titans games during their inaugural 2010 season. The broadcasts, which will occur in a three-hour window, will include a pre-game show and when time permits a post-game show. addition, Genesis will produce a one-hour Meet The Titans show, which will help introduce the National Lacrosse League team to the Central Florida marketplace.
Other highlights of the agreement include a daily Orlando Titans report, which will air weekdays during the 2010 season, on-air ticket giveaways on home-game weekends, and integration of the Orlando Titans in appropriate station promotions and marketing plans.
The agreement covers both the 16-game regular season schedule, plus any post-season playoff games that involve the Titans. The regular season begins on Jan. 8, when the Titans host the Philadelphia Wings at Amway Arena. It will be the first time a professional lacrosse team will play a home game in the State of Florida.
The most important thing I want to emphasize here is this is not just a radio broadcast deal but rather the announcement of a partnership between the team and Genesis Communications Titans Team President Steve Donner said. This is part of a comprehensive marketing/promotional agreement that will not only allow us to broadcast Titans games, but will help us expand and develop the game of lacrosse in the Central Florida market. I am extremely pleased that we will be partnering with ESPN 1080 The Team and WAMT 1190 in this venture and will be able to rely on their expertise to help achieve our goals.
The arrival of the Orlando Titans represents the first professional lacrosse franchise in Florida and we are excited about bringing all the fast-paced, high-scoring action of the National Lacrosse League to our listeners, ESPN 1080 The Team General Manager Colin Cantwell said. But we are also looking forward to partnering with the Titans in their mission of growing the game of lacrosse in the Central Florida region.
In addition, the team has hired Marc Daniels to serve as play-by-play man for Titans broadcasts. The long-time voice of the University of Central Florida athletics, Daniels has hosted several highly-successful radio programs, including The Beat of Sports, heard from 9 to 11 a.m. daily on ESPN 1080 AM.
The Titans will announce the remainder of their broadcast crew at a later date.
