SWEET SWINGING ALEX McCOY: TinCaps outfielder Alex McCoy was responsible for all four runs on Tuesday night, scoring a pair and driving in two. McCoy slashed his Midwest League-leading 27th double of the season in the first before scoring a batter later. The No. 16 Padres prospect then hit an RBI single in the third before scoring on a sacrifice fly. McCoy himself then drove in Fort Wayne's final run on a sac fly in the seventh. The 2024 undrafted free agent from Hofstra ranks third in the league in extra-base hits (43), while ranking fourth in hits (99) and total bases (173). McCoy also leads the team in runs (59), home runs (15), RBI (55), stolen bases (20), multi-hit (27), and multi-RBI (15) games.

THE RACE FOR 20-20: Fernando Tatis Jr. is the only player in Fort Wayne franchise history to ever hit 20 or more home runs and steal 20 or more bases in a single season. He did so with a franchise-record 21 home runs along with 29 stolen bases in 2017. Only three players have ever hit 15+ home runs and stolen 20+ bases in a lone season. Anthony Byrd (16 HR, 24 SB) in 1993 and Alex McCoy (15 HR, 20 SB) in 2026. McCoy last road trip hit three home runs in five games. With 25 games remaining, McCoy needs five more to capture the second 20-20 season in franchise history.

THIS ISN'T HEAVEN, IT'S IOWA: Fort Wayne hits the road for its penultimate road trip of the season, taking on the Kansas City Royals-affiliated Quad Cities River Bandits in Davenport, Iowa. It is the TinCaps' first trip to Modern Woodmen Park since 2023, and just the second trip since 2018. The River Bandits made the trek to Parkview Field from July 7-12 last season, splitting the series 3-3. All-time, Fort Wayne is 89-95 vs. Quad Cities and 45-44 on the road. On Thursday, 108 miles northwest, the third edition of the Field of Dreams game will commence with the Minnesota Twins taking on the Philadelphia Phillies. The River Bandits played in the MiLB at Field of Dreams game on Aug. 9, 2022, beating the Cedar Rapids Kernels 7-2.

'CAPS AGAINST CANCER: On Saturday, Aug. 22, the Fort Wayne TinCaps will have their 'Caps Against Cancer night at Parkview Field. The TinCaps once again this year are partnering with the Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute to create specialty-designed jerseys for the game. The game-worn jerseys, which have been created each season since 2018, are available for auction now, with all proceeds going to the Parkview Foundation's Transformative Cancer Care. Fans can bid at TinCaps.com/Auction with the auction running through Monday, Aug. 24 at 11:59 p.m.

CANTWELL COMING THROUGH: Fort Wayne first baseman Luke Cantwell has a hit in 11 of his last 13 games. The 2025 20th-round pick is 14-for-42 (.333) across the stretch, including his fourth homer with the 'Caps this season on July 25 at home against Lake County. Across two levels, Cantwell has the highest wRC+ (149), BABIP (.407), and wOBA (.440) in the Padres Minor League system. The former Pitt Panther has six multi-hit showings in 23 games since joining the club on June 23.

GOING THE OTHER WAY: Among Padres Minor League hitters with at least 250 plate appearances, the TinCaps have three of the top four opposite-field hitters in the system. Luke Cantwell leads the system with a 40.7% rate. 11 of his last 12 hits have gone the other way, including a home run and a pair of doubles. Behind him are Kasen Wells (2nd - 39.1%) and Ryan Wideman (4th - 38.3%). The 'Caps also have the two lowest opposite-field rate hitters in the system: Justin DeCriscio (19.4%) and Rosman Verdugo (23.2%).

MAKE WAY FOR THE KING: TinCap catcher Lamar King Jr. is on a three-game hitting streak and has a hit in 7 of his last 9 games following his RBI single on Saturday. King Jr blasted his fourth home run of the season in the 5th inning on Thursday. It was the first long ball for King Jr. since May 20 vs. Dayton, and half of his round-trippers this season have come at home. It was also his first extra-base hit since May 27.
