Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release
EL SEGUNDO, CA (November 21, 2013) - Time Warner Cable SportsNet announced today that it will telecast 22 Los Angeles D-Fenders home games this season with f ormer Laker and three-time NBA Champion A.C. Green and 20-year broadcasting veteran Steve Quis handling color commentary and play-by-play duties for the network.
"We know that the Los Angeles D-Fenders enjoy a strong following and our network is proud to bring a more robust offering of their games to their fans," said Mark Shuken, TWC Sports Senior Vice President and General Manager.
"We are excited to be featured on Time Warner Cable SportsNet for a second season," said Joey Buss, President/CEO of the D-Fenders. "This is an opportunity for fans to follow top NBA prospects and Lakers assignment players showcased throughout the season."
This season, Time Warner Cable SportsNet will nearly double the amount of games it will bring Los Angeles D-Fenders fans, airing every available home game on tape delay and one special live broadcast on January 27, at 7:00 p.m. that will coincide with the birthday of the late Lakers owner, Dr. Jerry Buss.
Earlier this year, the D-Fenders announced Bob MacKinnon as their new head coach along with Casey Owens and Thomas Scott as their assistant coaches. In addition, Time Warner Cable SportsNet analyst and former Lakers player Luke Walton has assumed duties as a player development coach.
The opening-day roster features former D-Fenders and NBA veterans Malcolm Thomas and Jamario Moon along with former Laker Kareem Rush. Current Lakers forwards Ryan Kelly and Elias Harris will also be with the team when they tip off on November 23rd. The veterans will join a group of exciting young players to form a talented roster for the 2013-14 season.
