
Timbers to Face Philadelphia Union Tonight in MLS Is Back Tournament Semifinal

The Portland Timbers will square off against the Philadelphia Union in the Semifinals of the MLS is Back Tournament tonight, Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 5 p.m. (Pacific), at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The match will feature a national broadcast on FS1, with local radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
The Portland Timbers scored three unanswered goals to secure a spot in the Semifinals of the MLS is Back Tournament with a 3-1 win in the quarterfinals against New York City FC at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Aug. 1. Sebastián Blanco equalized for Portland late in the first half, while Diego Valeri and Andy Polo added second-half goals to secure the win over NYCFC. Blanco's five assists rank tied for first in the tournament, while he has also tallied two goals. Jeremy Ebobisse leads the Timbers with three goals scored during the competition, while Jaroslaw Niezgoda has registered two goals and an assist in five appearances. Notably, Diego Valeri's two game-winning goals is tied for the tournament lead with Philadelphia's Sergio Santos.
Philadelphia advanced to the semifinal round of the MLS is Back Tournament, after a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on July 30. Santos, who leads the team with three goals in the tournament, tallied two goals in the win over SKC, while Brendan Aaronson ranks first on Philadelphia with three assists.
