PORTLAND, Ore. - Timbers rookie forward Alan Gordon has been honored as the A-League's Player of the Week for Week Six in recognition of a two-goal performance at Vancouver, it was announced Tuesday.
Gordon's two goals helped lead the undefeated Timbers past the Whitecaps in a 3-1 victory Sunday, snapping a seven game winless streak in Vancouver. Gordon has scored seven points on three goals and one assist in his first professional season, pacing the Timbers and tying him for third in the league.
His second naming to the Team of the Week this year, Gordon was also included in Week Three after scoring his first goal as a Timber less than 30 seconds into the season against Seattle.
In other news, midfielder Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar was named to the Team of the Week this week after tallying a goal and dishing an assist in Sunday's win. His three assists on the year are also tops on the team and good for second in the A-League.
Alcaraz-Cuellar has led the Timbers in assists the past two seasons.
