Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that enforcer Curtis Tidball is expected to return to the lineup against the Kalamazoo Wings Friday night.

Tidball has not played since March 2nd against Flint when he was sent crashing feet-first, full-speed into the end boards and suffered a lower body injury. But the dynamic forward is expected to be activated from the Injured Reserve Friday in preparation for the Jackals two-game home stand against the K-Wings this weekend.

"We expect Curtis to make an immediate impact on his return," said Jackals and First Arena General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "He adds a lot of toughness and physical play to our lineup. He will be especially needed as we look to make an important surge towards the playoffs."

In 43 games for the Jackals this season, Tidball has 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) and is 2nd in the United Hockey League in penalty minutes (286) and majors (22). He trails only Rockford's Robin Big Snake in both categories 295 minutes and 23 majors in 61 games played. He currently ranks 12th on the Jackals All-Time Penalty Minutes Chart, needing 14 PIMs to pass Carl Drakensjo in 11th and 34 PIMs to crack the Top Ten.

In other news, defenseman R.C. Lyke has been placed on a 45-day Non-Roster Spot after suffering a season ending knee injury. Lyke appeared in 50 games for the Jackals this season, scoring 8 points (1 goal, 7 assists) and 70 penalty minutes. He played his 300th career pro game on March 17th at First Arena against Muskegon.

The Jackals go head-to-head with the Kalamazoo Wings both Friday and Saturday nights, March 23rd and 24th at First Arena. Face off for both games is scheduled for 7:35 pm.
