
Tigers Swept in Doubleheader against Brooklyn

Norwich, CT - The Connecticut Tigers (31-35) were swept by the Brooklyn Cyclones in a doubleheader tonight at Dodd Stadium against the Brooklyn Cyclones (36-28). Brooklyn shut up the Tigers in both contests tonight.
Game 1:
The Tigers lost the first contest by a final score of 4-0. Brooklyn got on the board in the first inning with a solo home run from Wilmer Reyes off of Kyle Thomas (Loss, 0-1). The Cyclones added three more runs in the third inning. Luke Ritter walked with the bases loaded for the first run of the inning. Jeff McNeil came in to score on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.
Joe Genord pushed across the final run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. McNeil finished 1-for-3 with a run scored on a rehab assignment from the New York Mets.
Mitch Ragan (Win, 2-2) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings with two hits and one strikeout in the contest. Michel Otanez pitched 4.1 scoreless innings to start the game for Brooklyn. Josh Hejka pitched the final inning allowing no runs on no hits and a walk.
Game 2:
The Tigers got six scoreless innings from Jack O'Loughlin, but they fell by a final score of 5-0. O'Loughlin totaled six strikeouts with no runs on three hits in his six innings of work.
Brooklyn did not score a run until the seventh and final frame. After loading the bases, Ted Stuka (Loss, 0-1) allowed a run on an infield single by Ranfy Adon. The Cyclones went on to push across four more runs with three more hits in the inning. Andrew Magno got the final two outs of the inning for the Tigers in the frame.
Dan Goggin, Hunter Parsons and Jared Biddy combined for seven innings with 14 strikeouts and four walks in the contest. Connecticut picked up three hits combined against the three pitchers for the Cyclones.
The Connecticut Tigers will be back in action tomorrow against Brooklyn. You can catch all the action at Dodd Stadium on the Norwich Courtyard by Marriott Connecticut Tigers Radio Network on 1310 WICH. Elijah Gonzalez will have the call. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
