
Tigers' Deven Dubyk Named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Medicine Hat Tigers netminder Deven Dubyk is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending March 20. Dubyk was perfect in two starts recording two shutouts with an outstanding goals-against-average of 0.00 and save percentage of 1.000.
Dubyk picked up his first two shutouts of the year in back-to-back games against the Calgary Hitmen. He was also named first star of the game in both contests including a 1-0 win on Saturday with a 27-save performance, and on Sunday with 40 saves in a 2-0 win. The victories helped the Tigers close out the regular season with a 46-18-4-4 record for 100 points and third place in the WHL's Eastern Conference setting up a first round playoff matchup with the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Dubyk, a 19-year-old from Minitonas, Manitoba, is playing in his third WHL season and second with the Tigers. In 19 games played this season he earned 11 wins with a goals-against-average of 2.89 and save percentage of .908.
Jean-François Bérubé of the Montreal Juniors was also considered after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 2.00 and save percentage of .923. In the OHL, Mikael Audette of the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors won both his starts earning a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.50 and save percentage of .981.
