Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
Crestwood, IL - The Windy City ThunderBolts are in the process of lining up host families for the upcoming 2007 season. The host family program allows members of the community to become more than just fans and play an important role in the lives of the players.
The ThunderBolts fill their roster with players from all across the country. The host family program is a way to provide the players a home away from home during the season. Players and host families form bonds with each other that last well beyond the end of the season.
Host families will need to have space available beginning in early May when players arrive for spring training. The official start date of spring training is May 9, but players may get into town several days prior. The season will end in early to mid-September. Host families are not expected to provide housing once the season is over. The ThunderBolts play a 96-game schedule with 48 games at home and 48 on the road. Due to team travel, players will be gone approximately half of the time.
Players are responsible for their own transportation, phone calls, laundry, and dining. Specific arrangements can be worked out between individual players and families. Host families are expected to provide private sleeping accommodations.
In return for their hospitality, host families will receive two full season tickets per player. For more information on becoming a host family, please contact Host Family Coordinator Robbin Zaffino at 708-489-2255. Testimonials from prior host families are available for people who would like to find out more about the program.
