Lakeland ThunderBolts News Release
LAKELAND- The Lakeland ThunderBolts hosts the Florida Frenzy, this Friday, March 24th at 7pm, in an Atlantic Conference Southern Division face-off at the Lakeland Center. The ThunderBolts are home again after defeating the Palm Beach Phantoms 60-37. Friday's game will be the first of two meeting for these teams. This year is the Frenzy inaugural season in the NIFL.
About the Frenzy: The Frenzy opened their season last week on the road when they played Osceola in a 42-14 loss to Osceola. QB Kevin Jackson completed 5-of-10 passes for 112 yards and 1 touchdown in the loss. WR James Johnson who scored the teams other touchdown caught 2 passes for a total of 47 yards. RB Eric Jones led the Frenzy in rushing with 38 yards. On the defensive side of the ball the Frenzy had two players with 5 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles DB Excel Lucas and DB Pat Avrilien. With this being the Frenzy first game and inaugural season no one knows what to really expect as the season progresses.
About the ThunderBolts: The ThunderBolts are back at the Lakeland Center again this Friday after a home opener win against the Palm Beach Phantoms 60-37. QB Jason Johnson showed promising results against the Phantoms when he completed 12-of-22 passes for 188 yards and 4 touchdowns. Along with his tremendous passing game Johnson also carried the ball up the field 6 times for a gain 41 yards which resulted in 1 touchdown. WR Kenny Perry led the ThunderBolts in receiving yards with 6 catches for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns. WR Don Robinson added 4 grabs for 40 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defense for the ThunderBolts was impressive as well. LB/DB Lance Small led the ThunderBolts defense with 5 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles. DB Ararmis Haralson added to the tackles with 4 solo and 3 assisted. The ThunderBolts also had four players who had each had a sack against the Phantoms, LB Brenden Givan, FB/LB Deaubrey Devine, OL/DL Jeff Pillings, and RB Perry Tisdale.
