
ThunderBolts coach Hagin resigns

LAKELAND, Fla. - Garrett Hagin, head coach of the 2005 Lakeland ThunderBolts, has resigned his position with the first-year National Indoor Football League team, according ThunderBolts' president & general manager Del Martin.
Coach Hagin directed the team to a 6-8 record, including big wins against Rome, one of the Indoor Bowl V finalists, 31-23, and the Daytona Beach Hawgs, 35-18, to open the season.
"We are very sad to see Garrett leave," said Mr. Martin. "He was great for the organization, but family comes first."
His resignation came because of personal reasons and he left the organization on good terms. The ThunderBolts wish Coach Hagin the best of luck in his future endeavors at home in Birmingham, Alabama.
He also was responsible for much of the team-related sponsorship for housing and feeding of the players and signed some outstanding talent including NIFL All-Stars quarterback Jeremy Martin and defensive back Damien Demps.
The former University of Wisconsin-Superior all-conference player and MVP, also found some other exceptional talent in receivers Will Glover, William Andrews, Tavarius Johnson and Raymond Hardy. He also recruited defensive backs Lance Small, Courtney Miller and Aramis Haralson.
With 22 years of coaching experience, Hagin also has worked as a southeast regional scout for the Canadian Football League's Edmonton Eskimos. He also had previously coached the af2 Bossier City Battle Wings and also Middle Georgia College.
Coach Hagin also helped get the players out into the community for charitable events and personal appearances.
