HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced they have signed first-rounder and defenceman Max Wilson to a three-year contract.

The Thunderbirds selected Wilson with their first pick (No. 12 overall) in the 2021 NLL Entry Draft. Wilson was on the Thunderbirds' Draft List for the 2021-22 season.

Wilson, 23, played midfield at New Jersey Institute of Technology. The right-hander's collegiate career with the Highlanders saw him finish with 30 points (15G, 15A), 22 ground balls, and four caused turnovers.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, the Victoria, B.C. native played 33 regular season games with the Jr. A Victoria Shamrocks in the BCLA, posting 17 points (6G, 11A) and adding three points (1G, 2A) in 14 postseason contests.

"Wilson is a solid young defender who has an endless work ethic," play-by-play broadcaster for NLL TSN Games of the Week Teddy Jenner said. "He plays a very steady defensive game and has the ability to match up against anyone. Finally healthy, expect big things from Max."
