
Thunderbirds Go for Gold in the 2019 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship

Halifax Thunderbirds players Cody Jamieson (@Cjamieson88), Kyle Jackson (@KyleJackson47) and Warren Hill (@WarrenHill76) who play for the Iroquois Nationals (@IrqLax) and Owner and GM Curt Styres will face off for gold against Thunderbirds teammates Jake Withers (@JakeWithers4) and Graeme Hossack (@4Hoss18) who play for Canada (@CanadaLacrosse) tonight at 8 p.m. PDT.
"Winning would mean everything," said Iroquois Captain Cody Jamieson. "It's the World Championship, it's our game, it's something that's never happened before. It would honestly mean everything. It wouldn't just be for our team or just for Six Nations or just for Akwesasne. It would be for the Squamish people out here in B.C. and the Katzie people out here in B.C."
"It would be for all the reserves in Alberta, in Saskatchewan and everywhere else," continued Jamieson. "It would be for the missing and murdered Indigenous women. It would be everything rolled into one. It would mean a lot to a lot of people."
Cody Jamieson, who is the captain of the Iroquois Nationals, is leading the team in goals (11), assists (17), points (28) and is fourth overall in the tournament in goals (11), fourth overall in assists (17) and fourth overall in points (28). Kyle Jackson is third on the team in goals (7), assists (9) and points (16), and is 13th in the tournament in points (16), 13th in goals (7) and 15th in assists (9). Goalie Warren Hill has three wins in the tournament, is fourth overall in save percentage (.857) and had 42 saves in yesterday's semifinal game against the U.S.A.
Canada who is the reigning champion and currently undefeated in the tournament and have two Thunderbirds defensemen; Jake Withers and Graeme Hossack on their roster. Hossack has one goal and three assists while Withers has one goal and four assists.
