PEORIA - The Bloomington Thunder won their second straight contest over their rivals with a 3-2 victory over the Peoria Rivermen on Sunday afternoon at Carver Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Rivermen marked first as Taylor Larsen slipped the puck through the five-hole in the closing stages of a power play with 13:03 remaining in the second period. The Thunder evened the game with 6:56 left in the middle chapter when Curtis Megginson blocked a shot and chased it down into the Rivermen zone when Peoria's Tyler Amburgey swept the puck away but into the path in the slot of Dennis Sicard, who converted an unassisted shorthanded goal. However, just 25 seconds later on the same power play, the Rivermen regained the lead at 2-1 on a Matt Viola tally. The Thunder knotted the count with 2:40 left when Ron Cramer converted a feed from Jason Pietrasiak from behind the net to the doorstep, with the second assist given to Paul D'Agostino to send the game to the second intermission even at 2-2.

The Thunder grabbed their first lead of the game 1:01 into the third period on a wraparound by Travis Granbois just before Rivermen goalie Kyle Rank could get his skate on the right post. Pietrasiak earned his second assist of the game on the goal. The Thunder sealed the win when Eddie Olczyk slipped the puck into a vacant net as Rank was leaving the pipes with 1:11 remaining.

Breton Lindoff earned the win in his Thunder debut in goal with 30 saves while rank took the loss with 18 stops. The Rivermen were 2-for-9 on the power play while the Thunder did not convert their lone man advantage.

The Thunder improve to 5-8-1 against the Rivermen and remain in tenth place with a 13-18-1 overall mark, just one point behind the Columbus Cottonmouths and the Fayetteville FireAntz, who visit Bloomington this Thursday and Friday with 7:05 face-offs both nights at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Thursday's game features soda, beer and hot dogs for only $2 each, and Friday is a Pepsi Date Night offering two seats for only $20 when bringing a Pepsi product to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office.
