Daytona Beach Thunder News Release
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Calvin Thomas rushed for an American Indoor Football League record-tying five touchdowns as the Daytona Beach Thunder (6-7) downed the AIFL Ghostchasers 79-6 in its home finale Sunday at DBCC Public Broadcasting 15 Field in the Ocean Center.
The Thunder's 73-point margin of victory was the largest in Florida professional history, eclipsing the Jacksonville Jaguars' 62-7 defeat of the Miami Dolphins in a 2000 National Football League playoff game.
Thomas finished with 63 yards on 14 carries. Oscar Davenport threw four touchdown passes - two to Robert Bailey and one each to Erie Williams and Nick Allison.
Musa Nash had a fumble recovery and a safety as the Thunder defense forced five turnovers and held the traveling team to six total yards.
Daytona Beach concludes its season June 10 at the Rome Renegades. A victory there and two losses by the Chattahoochee Valley Vipers puts the Thunder in the AIFL's Southern Conference playoffs.
