GAME NOTES

LET'S GET A STREAK STARTED: Coming off the franchise's first-ever victory, a 49-24 rout of the previous unbeaten Augusta Spartans, the Daytona Beach Thunder hopes to start its first-ever winning streak Thursday against the Florence, S.C. Phantoms.

MEET THE COACHES

DERRIC COACKLEY: A veteran of indoor professional football at various levels and in various leagues including Arena Football League (AFL), Arena Football League 2 (AF2), Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL), Indoor Football League (IFL), National Indoor Football League (NIFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL).

Besides entering Arena football in its early days, Derric's career reflected a trend - a focus on and deep interest in Arena football. He became the all time leader in sacks in indoor football history, and receiving the distinction of winning two National Championships with the same team in two different leagues. The first occurred in 2000 with the Peoria Pirates who went 17-0 as part of the IFL and again in 2002 with the Peoria Pirates going 15-5 with the AF2.

Coakley's greatest strength has been defense and time and again has demonstrated why he was the leading sacker of all time. In 2004, as a defensive coordinator with the Myrtle Beach Stingrays he raised the team to a fifth rank defense in the NIFL. Again, in 2005 opportunity came knocking when the NIFL called and Coakley took an18th ranked defense leading them to an 8th ranked total defense and number 1 ranking in pass defense (2005).

ERVIN BRYSON: In his fourth season of indoor football, Bryson has had stint in Winston-Salem (N.C.), an interim gig in Sioux City (S.D.) and Daytona Beach in the National Indoor Football League. He is 18-17 overall. He guided last year's Daytona Beach NIFL team to a 7-3 mark and the verge of a division title.

LOVE BREAKING DOWN THIS GAME: The Thunder's offense out and point allowed totals were its bests of the season; consequently both of Augusta's numbers were the Spartans' worsts ... For the second straight game, Daytona Beach has held its opponent scoreless in the third quarter ... Daytona Beach's 21-point fourth quarter was the most points in a period this season ... This was the first game Lee (12 carries, 41 yards) and Lucas Greene (2 catches, 17 yards) didn't score a touchdown; Lee did register a two-point conversion ... Both of the Davenport to Bailey first-half strikes came on first down ... After missing his first attempt, kicker Anil Pereira made his final five attempts and plunked the hockey scoreboard three consecutive times ... The Thunder's next two opponents, Florence and Carolina, were the teams the Spartans had smacked.

BAILEY'S THE BEST AND PRESTON'S PURRING: Robert Bailey's five touchdowns and 171 yards jetted him to an American Indoor Football League Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor. He shares it with QB JR Revere of the CV Vipers ... DB Durrell Preston garnered a Defensive Player of the week nod for his nine tackles and a pick.

YOU SAY GOODBYE...: The Thunder released QB Travis Wilson, who started the team's first three games. Wilson has since latched on with the Florida Frenzy of the National Indoor Football League.

AND I'LL SAY HELLO: The newest member of the Thunder is DE Musa Nash, who played his college ball at Ft. Valley State.

GET BETTER, SOON: The Thunder will be without Myqual Spann, who injured his leg last Friday at Augusta. Spann's expected to return for the next game.

A RECORD: Brad Lee earned a spot in the AIFL record book with his 23 carries against the Richmond Bandits.
