January 16, 2014 - SPHL (SPHL)
Bloomington Thunder News Release

The Bloomington Thunder will try to climb in the Southern Professional Hockey League standings as they host the Peoria Rivermen on Friday night.

The Thunder carry an 11-17-1 record for 23 points and tenth place into Friday's 7:05 p.m. game at U.S. Cellular Coliseum against the Rivermen, but could move up multiple spots during the three games against their rivals this weekend. The Thunder conclude five straight games against the Rivermen with games in Peoria on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. and Sunday at 3:15 p.m.

Bloomington has picked up 13 points in the last ten games with a 6-3-1 mark, tied with the Mississippi RiverKings for the second-best league record in that time frame. The Thunder are 3-1-1 in the last five games against the Rivermen.

Tyler Noseworthy leads the Thunder against Peoria with eight points (3 goals, 5 assists) followed by leading Bloomington scorer Travis Granbois with seven points (2 goals, 5 assists). The Thunder will try to slow down Rivermen forward and leading scorer Garrett Vermeersch, who has scored 20 of his 30 points against the Thunder, including a come-from-behind hat trick in the most recent meeting last Saturday which gave the Rivs a 3-2 overtime win at Carver Arena.

Friday's game is Adopt-A-Dog Night in conjunction with WishBone Canine Rescue. Donations will be accepted throughout the concourse, with important items requested including blankets, dog food and general cleaning supplies. Dora the Explorer will also meet with young fans courtesy of Country Financial, and Friday's Pepsi Date Night entitles anyone who brings a Pepsi product to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office to receive two lower seats for only $20.

Friday's game can be heard inside U.S. Cellular Coliseum on 93.7 FM and online at WJBC.com as well as viewed via subscription on America One Sports.
