Portland Thunder News Release

PORTLAND - The Portland Thunder have traded for San Jose SaberCats offensive lineman Jordan Mudge, announced head coach Mike Hohensee on Thursday. Defensive lineman Donte Paige-Moss was sent to the central California club in return.

"Jordan has been a standout during his time in San Jose, and we are happy to solidify our offensive front by bringing him in," stated Hohensee. "The trade was based on the confidence our staff has in the other guys on the defensive line, not any indication of doubt in the player leaving."

The Thunder have also acquired the 7th Claim Order Position as part of the deal.

Mudge (6-4, 320, Nevada) joins the Thunder after a two season stint with San Jose. Jordan started his AFL career in 2013, appearing in 13 games, starting in eight. Mudge began the 2014 season as a starter in the SaberCats offensive front, before a season ending injury in a Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Power curtailed his campaign. Mudge also spent time with the CFL's BC Lions in 2012.

Paige-Moss (6-4, 280, North Carolina) originally joined the Thunder on October 29, 2013, serving as one of the club's first ever acquisitions. The former Tar-Heel appeared in 15 games for Portland in his rookie season, tallying 23.5 tackles, nine of which went for a loss, with eight sacks and two forced fumbles. Paige-Moss was previously regarded by several media outlets as a first round NFL draft pick before a significant knee injury against Missouri in the 2012 Independence Bowl.

The Thunder open up their 2015 AFL campaign a week from tomorrow, on March 27, as they face the LA KISS from the Moda Center in Downtown Portland.
