Thunder Staff Member Joins af2 League Office

BOARDMAN, Ohio - The Mahoning Valley Thunder are pleased to announce that Ron Armour, the Thunder's Director of Operations and Marketing has accepted a position with the arenafootball2 League Office in Chicago, Illinois.

Armour will serve as the Director of Team Development with the League. His duties will include assisting new and existing member teams with marketing and branding efforts at the individual team level and league branding on a broad scale. The position will also assist member teams with all facets of their operations from the front office to successful, quality game execution.

Armour was instrumental in the day-to-day operations of the Thunder, while assisting with all departments and dealing a great deal with the arenafootball2 League Office in Chicago. As Director of Marketing, his duties included managing the production of all collateral materials for the organization, commercial production and media placement.

Prior to joining the Thunder in the fall of 2006, Armour was with the Macon Knights af2 team in Macon, GA for five seasons and served as Vice President and Director of Marketing. He was on the board of the Central Georgia Advertising Federation serving as President Elect and chaired the organization's annual awards gala. Armour was named Middle Georgia's Marketing Director of the year in 2004 and along with the Knights Marketing Department won numerous advertising excellence awards, including the af2's Best Publication Award four years in a row.

Armour was invited by the League Office to assist in each of the last three ArenaCup Championship games. Originally from Milledgeville, GA, he received his Bachelor Degree in Mass Communications and Advertising from the University of Georgia in 2000.

"We've wanted Ron at the League level for a while and we're glad to have finally acquired his skill set. There's no one better qualified to come on board and help run our Team Services Department," said af2 President Jerry Kurz.

"Ron was a tremendous asset to the Thunder Organization as we successfully completed our inaugural season. His knowledge and experience will continue to help new teams in arenafootball2 and we wish him nothing but the best," said Thunder General Manager Adam Tokash.

The Mahoning Valley Thunder closed out the 2007 Inaugural Season with three-straight home victories.
